Initial idea 3

Power Hungry Animals by The Apache Relay

 Music Video

The music video would reveal the stories behind the members of the band before they pursued this music career. Throughout the song the visuals would intercut between the four stories each displaying a sense that they don't belong in this situation they were meant to be in the band reflecting the line "Souls can not be fooled" . Here are the stories:

A 20 year old guy working in a kitchen. It is a low paid job where his boss shouts at him and he is treated very poorly, Throughout the song he realises that music is his passion and doesn't need to be treated the way he is. He finally builds up the courage to quit his job in order to join the band

A 20 year old girl with an aggressive boyfriend. She aims to pursue music however he puts her down and forbids her from following her dreams. With the help of the other band members she escapes the situation and joins the band and pursues her music career.

A 19 year old guy at university doing a degree in a subject he cares very little for because his parents have encouraged him to do so. close up shots of him in lessons,

A 21 year old girl associating with the wrong crowd. Lots of shots of her friends hanging around bad areas close ups of her false smiles and laughs. she arrives home and plays her guitar revealing where her true passions lie.

Towards the end of the song the video would become more down to earth featuring backstage 'real life' footage of the band. In a very organic style as if being filmed by the band members themselves this would convey that the band members like to have a good time, are fun people, and much happier in their current situation. In the end they all followed their passions and desires. The uplifting ending of the song would quickly cut between where the band members were and where they are now conveying the moral that you should pursue your dreams.

This however would not be filmed in a stereotypical cheesy music video style where the artists look straight into the camera, I intend for it to be quite a cinematic, showing a narrative behind the artists bringing their fans closer to them.

 Artist and Campaign

The people starring in the video would not be the band members. This displays that this group are less about image and more about the music and the message they portray. The Artists would be four guys and a girl, with quite different and quirky fashion styles and personalities. They would produce quite a raw country, folk sound through their music targeted at the country, acoustic, rock, folk and soul genre demographics. The band would oppose against traditional pop culture where image is everything and musical talent does not matter. They would not represent the image of their band instead they would have a symbol which would be featured on their album and website with quite an organic colour pallette of browns greens and oranges.

In terms of existing artists they would share similarities with the group Barr Brothers. The group would look very similar to this in terms of appearance - lots of denim, long careless hair etc. However, the campaign would feature almost no pictures of the actual group, instead it would be filled with patterns, shapes and retro, folk-like images that reflect the bands sound (light leaks, warm, earthy, organic colours, sunsets) here are some examples of images that could be featured on their website:

At this initial stage, my idea for the bands name would be The nomad party. I decided to create a test album cover to inspire further ideas, and portray how I envision the bands image. The Digipack cover features bold red typography with a slight eroding effect, this establishes the bands image as rough, down to earth and not perfect. The abstract pattern in the background would support a recurring theme throughout their campaign. I also added a light leak to introduce some more traditional, and recognised conventions for this genre of music.
